The Transitional Housing Program and the DAEOC Domestic Violence/Homeless Shelter have been encompassed to create one program, the DAEOC Homeless Project.
This program is operated with funding provided by the Missouri Housing Trust Fund (MHTF) and the HUD Emergency Shelter Grant.
Transitional Housing is defined as housing from 30 days to 2 years in which supportive services are provided to prepare homeless families for independent living and economic self-reliance.
DAEOC currently operates six homes for this purpose in Sikeston, MO.
A professional staff provides case management and other required intervention services linking the families occupying these homes with expensive supportive services in the community.
The Domestic Violence/Homeless Shelter consists of six units.
The shelter provides a temporary place to stay for 30 days.
A professional staff provides the individual/families with support services in the area to help prepare them for independent living after their 30-day stay.
